If you want to find out more about the cases that inspired this series of Garrow’s Law, as well as more information about the period, then the best place to start is the website http://www.oldbaileyonline.org. It’s not just about cases, there is a real wealth of historical information and analysis on the site, http://www.oldbaileyonline.org/static/History.jsp
Don’t forget to try putting in your own name to see whether your great great great great grandparents were ever accused of stealing a hanky!
After that, if you want some info about the Bar and the Old Bailey, then there is a really awesome book called ‘The Bar and the Old Bailey” written by Allyson May. There is a preview on google books, but otherwise you’ll have to buy it. It’s worth it though.
Then, as far as Garrow is concerned there is his biography, written by John Hostettler and Richard Braby. For extra bits of info, check out the Garrow Society http://www.garrowsociety.org . This also has info on the mystery of Lady Sarah.
As the series progresses, I’ll put some info up here with links to further information about the cases that inspired the series and where you can find more info about them.
